Foster Care Sunday

Foster Care Sunday (formerly called Stand Sunday) is an international initiative that has been going for over twenty years. On this Sunday, Christians unite on behalf of every child in care and pray for them to be restored to a forever family. On Foster Care Sunday we encourage you to join thousands of sermons and events, simple meals and special prayers as we will come together. In Australia we host Foster Care Sunday on the second Sunday of September to coincide with national child protection week and national foster carers’ week.

This year, as part of the Australian Christian Fostering Network, Fostering Hope joined with Ark Australia, You Parties, and The Homeward Project to put out a Foster Care Sunday Kit and video for you to use in your church, small group or community.

Fostering Hope is asking churches around Australia to come together to celebrate these carers who STAND as carers and family for children who desperately need it. We are asking churches to STAND with carers to understand the beautiful and messy lives they live. We are asking churches to STAND up with information about the need for more homes for vulnerable children right here in Australia.

It’s a need that exists right outside your door. Many children wait right now for a loving family, mentor or friend. It takes just one loving person to change the life of a child.

This Foster Care Sunday we are asking the church in Australia, to open up to those that need a home, a family and community – let’s find fostering families to fill this need in Australia.
